About Alex
Where it all began
Alex’s love of Christmas started from an early age, encouraged by family to explore his creativity he would put up decorations throughout the year.
His grandma bought him his first artificial Christmas tree, set of 20 lights and decorations at the age of five. It didn’t matter what time of year it was; whenever he would visit out came the Christmas tree and decorations.
He went on to create more elaborate displays and winter wonderlands at home from the age of ten, that included multiple Christmas trees, animated Santa, Snowmen, Nutcrackers, a large-scale cabin and plenty of fake snow. The passion to create Christmas displays led to family and friends requesting his skills to decorate for them.
Alex was able to combine his other passion for Theatre and events, studying Technical Theatre at Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts in London, gaining a first and special recognition with the Dianna Boddington Memorial Award. His hard work and determination in the industry saw him work at The National Theatre and Young Vic in the lighting departments. As well as leading events, parties and award ceremonies across the UK and Europe.
Honing his craft
Following his dream
While Alex continued to create Christmas displays on the side, this led to him exploring where he could gain employment in the industry. He was able to work with a professional display company and gain first-hand experience of the commercial Christmas industry, creating and refurbishing decorations for the likes of John Lewis, airports and shopping centres.
From here he was approached by the oldest Festive Lighting company in the UK, where he took up the role of Creative Designer. He worked on world renowned projects including the Oxford Street and Regent Street Christmas Lights, as well as other cities and shopping centres. This allowed him to utilise his skills learnt in Theatre for Scenic Design and Lighting to create elaborate and enchanting displays.
Spotting a gap in the market he took the leap of setting up his own business and in 2010, Christmas Creations was born. His passion for Christmas has seen him appear on TV, Radio and in national newspapers. He even set a Guinness World Record for the fastest time to decorate a Christmas tree against Gino D’Campo.
